WEEKLY REFLECTION

09/01/2023 - 13/01/2023

Here comes the fourth week of the teaching practice, started from the date 09/01/2023 to 13/01/2023. Overall the week was not good in my opinion. Teachers, principal, teachers from college all scolded us everyday in one way or another. Starting from the arrival time to the leaving time, we were scolded by them. Sometimes it's for arriving late after 9.30 AM, sometimes for serving mid-day meals, sometimes for not maintaining the class discipline while teaching. And this week we got scolded and heard from the teachers for not going to substitution. But the worst part is they were keenly observing us to make mistakes.

Wednesday, our principal asked us to do something on National Youth Day celebrating on 12/01/2023. So we were planning to do something and finalize a poster making competition among the students on ‘NO to Drugs’. Many posters were presented by the students of IX and VIII standard students and the winners were announced by the teachers of that school and announced Amal of VIII standard as first and Bipin of VIII standard as second. Nature club inauguration was held on 10/01/2023 by cleaning the backyard of the school and planting some seeds with the guidance of the concerned teacher and headmaster. On 12/01/2023 there was an assembly conducted by the VII standard students and announcements regarding republic day rally were held. The Hindi teacher appreciated two of the students from VIII standard in the assembly  for completing and presenting the handmade Hindi calendar.

Coming to the lessons I taught, I have been continuing with the chapter Prism and this week I taught the majority of the chapter and am expecting a Diagnostic test by next week. I made a model to teach the ‘area of prism’ which made happy responses from the students and they paid attention while teaching. Inquiry model taken in one of the problems of the area.

On 12/01/2023, my optional teacher came for observation and as the continuation i took the lesson plan of problems related to ‘Surface area of prism’. After the observation, the teacher said many points to improve and am still in confusion about some points that she said. I accept that I shouldn’t have taken the problem section in observation class. I accept the fact that massive responses from the students make disturbance to the other classes, i should have avoided it. Since there was assembly and It's almost 10:15 AM I started the class, so I was unable to complete the entire lesson plan on time. The teacher said it's not a live class, students were silent and disciplined. Here comes the confusion, the teacher talked about massive responses and at the same time no live class and its teacher centered, I felt it is contradicting. Overall the teacher said that she expected more from me, but assure you I’ll make it better next time.
